MATCHING GIFTS
If you or your spouse work for a company that matches gifts, you may be able to multiply your impact! You would be recognized for the total amount contributed, your gift plus the match. To find out if your company will match your gift to Latin, please contact your company's HR department and obtain the appropriate company forms. Attach these forms to your gift and we can take it from there. Direct all forms and questions to giving@latinschool.org or 312.582.6040.

MARKETABLE SECURITIES
A gift of appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year can sometimes be the most economical way to give. You will be eligible to take a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift (for up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income) and will not have to recognize the appreciation as capital gain.

OTHER ASSETS
Gifts to Latin can come in the form of other assets as well. For example, you may wish to consider gifts of closely held stock, real estate, or tangible personal property if its use is related to Latin’s educational mission.

The Latin Fund is the school’s top fundraising priority. Each year, we invite all families to make a tax-deductible gift that supports current operation of the school during the fiscal year the gift is received. Gifts provide immediate support for Academic Excellence, Faculty Support, Financial Aid, and more. Gifts from parents, alumni, Board of Trustees, parents of alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends help make this possible. Learn more.

Your gift, at any level, is an investment in the people and programs that make Latin extraordinary. During the 2019-2020 school year we received 1,166 gifts of $1,000 or less that together equaled $260,343 of support for Latin.

When you make a gift through our secure online portal you will be presented with fund options you can choose from. The most common areas our donors choose to support are the Latin Fund, our annual fundraising event, and our endowments. Within the Latin Fund you can choose to specifically support academics, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, or tuition assistance. A gift to our annual fundraising event helps underwrite the cost of the event which raises money for tuition assistance.
