Extraordinary Academics for All

Deb Sampey and Shelley Greenwood

Latin School of Chicago wouldn’t be the institution it is today without the innovative leadership of two exceptional trailblazers, Shelley Greenwood and Deb Sampey.

These administrators have served Latin for a combined 67 years, infusing their expertise, passions -and compassions- into all facets of our school.

Shelley and Deb will be retiring at the end of this school year. To honor their legacies, we are launching Extraordinary Academics for All, a fundraising campaign that safeguards initiatives they championed: our financial aid program and academic initiatives.

We invite you to celebrate Shelley and Deb through a gift to this campaign, which will ensure that Latin Learners from all across Chicago can thrive today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Extraordinary Academics for All

All dollars raised through Extraordinary Academics for All will be split between our financial aid program and academic initiatives—two initiatives that Shelley and Deb committed themselves to throughout their careers.

Latin's middle school academic programming is grounded in a research-based approach to teaching and learning. Deb spearheaded numerous initiatives that advanced Latin's use of data to advance student success, including the development of our middle school Learning Profile Screener and our enhanced use of ERB (Educational Research Board) and Milestone testing. She also supported educator mentorship and professional development. Your gift will ensure the continuation of these key efforts that bolster the growth of our students.

Shelley played a vital role in growing the financial aid offerings at Latin, and today, we award more than $4.6 million in need-based aid annually. This campaign will fuel the continued growth of our financial aid offerings, giving more students and families the opportunity to experience Latin.
