Prerequisite: must be able to swim 100m unassisted and be confident riding a bike without training wheels. Campers should bring their own bike.

Aquatics Director and Certified USA Triathlon coach Danielle Carlson will lead campers in a week-long training for junior triathletes following the Chicago Triathlon’s motto: swim, ride, run and fun! Athletes will learn foundation triathlon skills so they can successfully navigate between swimming, biking and running on race day.
Danielle is the director of Aquatics at the Latin School and the head coach of the Chicago Latin Swim Club. Danielle is a certified USA Swimming coach, as well as a certified Lifeguard Instructor. After completing her collegiate swimming career, Danielle Carlson started participating in triathlons in 2011. Working her way up from the sprint distance, Danielle has participated in Olympic, Half Ironman and Ironman distance triathlons. A five-time USA Triathlon National Championship qualifier, Danielle got her USA Triathlon coaching certification in June of 2017. Danielle is excited to share her love of triathlon with the next generation of multi-sport athletes!
The Chicago kids triathlon is Saturday, August 24, 2019. The junior division of the kid's tri is ages 7-10 and consists of a 100-meter swim, 3.5K bike, and a 1K run. The senior division of the kid's tri is ages 11- 14 years old and consists of a 200-meter swim, 7K bike, and 2K run.
