This course will strengthen the fundamental principles of writing a solid thesis-driven essay. Students will receive guidance on articulate writing, mechanics, and topic development as they produce well-crafted essays with an effective thesis, support, introduction, and conclusion. Types of writing will include personal narratives, rhetorical analysis, argumentative and analytical thesis-driven essays, revision, and timed writing in preparation for in-class essays and the ACT/SAT. For those preparing for college, there will also be an emphasis on research. Students will become comfortable identifying and utilizing ways to strengthen their own writing as they move forward to the next academic year. The small nature of this course allows for greatly personalized feedback and guidance. All levels are welcomed and encouraged.
