This course serves as an introduction to visual communication skills using a variety of digital media that may include digital photography, digital video, audio recording, digital storytelling, animation, digital painting, digital collage, computer graphic design, and web page design. Students will rely on their own creativity and interests in completing each project. Students will learn to raise awareness, start conversations, solve problems, express their ideas and take action. This will be a hands-on class with both individual and group projects. While the school will be able to provide some equipment, students ideally should have their own picture-taking device, which may be an iPhone, iPad, digital camera and/or digital video camera. For credit: Students can not miss more than two days over the three-week class and all assignments must be completed by the last day of the class. No extensions.The Digital Arts class has a final project. 0.5 credit is issued on successful completion of this course.
On July 24 the class will join the Photography class for a field trip downtown. The class will run from 8:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m. on that day. Students will be filming for their video on Chicago.
