What does it mean to be a leader? Words like “in charge” and “the facilitator” come to mind. In our camp setting, we know that there are many different kinds of leaders and many paths to developing leadership. Our LIT program offers teens the opportunity to learn and practice their leadership skills through a Day Camp experience. Working with children requires patience, creativity, kindness, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork. Our program is designed to be a hands-on, skills-based experience for teens interested in working with children in a fun, supportive environment.
Under the support of a LIT director and Senior Counselor, participants will develop the skills and strategies for working with younger children while learning how to implement creative camp ideas.
ITs will have training in child development, camp health and safety, and practice their skills through direct service with groups ranging from our youngest to second grade day campers. LITs must commit to at least one full session so they can start and finish a session with a group of campers.
Lunch: Provided daily except field trip day, and always allergy aware.
