Food Science (Grades 5-8)

How do food scientists calculate the amount of calories in food? How is candy made and how does it get its color? The only way to answer these questions is to "do" science. This is a hands on laboratory class where students obtain skills necessary for middle and high school science while having FUN!

Airforce Cyber Security Week (Grades 6-8)

June 25-29, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Join middle school faculty Bobby Oommen and Amy Atkinson for a week filled with programming and challenges! Students will spend the week using curriculum developed by the Air Force Association to learn basic cybersecurity concepts, how to secure a computer, and how to prevent attacks on their computers and networks. Campers will participate in a nationwide security challenge at the end of the week to see if they can successfully secure their system.

Junior Triathlon Camp (ages 7-14)

Ages 7-10 
Prerequisite: must be able to swim 100m unassisted
June 25-29, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  

Ages 11-14 
Prerequisite must be able to swim 200m unassisted
July 9-13, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  

Cost: $450 per week. Lunch included.

Aquatics Director and Certified USA Triathlon coach Danielle Carlson will lead campers in a week-long training for junior triathletes following the Chicago Triathlon’s motto: swim, ride, run and fun! Athletes will learn foundation triathlon skills so they can successfully navigate between swimming, biking and running on race day.

Bus Service for full day campers

Available for the 9 a.m. arrivals and 3 p.m. departures only.
Session 1: June 11-July 6
Session 2: July 9- July 27
$50 per week

Latin Day Camp contracts with an independent bus company to provide safe, reliable door-to-door bus service to our camp families. Busing is available within the following boundaries: from 600 north (Ohio Street) to 4600 north (Wilson Avenue) and from Lake Shore Drive to 1600 west (Ashland Avenue).

Extended Day for full day campers

Section A – M-F 3-4 p.m. dismissal

Section B – M-F 3-5 p.m. dismissal
$130 per week

Section C – M-F 3-5:30 p.m. dismissal
$162.50 per week

Flex at $13/hr.

Extended Day is available only to full-day campers on each day that camp is in session. The program takes place in Latin's Lower School and provides a safe, supervised environment where children can choose from a number of informal activities including board games, craft activities, gym play, and quiet time.

Algebra I (Grades 8-11)

The equivalent of a full-year course and prerequisite for Algebra II, this class will cover linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, exponents, and graphing. 

A TI-83 calculator is required of all students registered in this class.

Freshman Prep

June 18- 29, 9-11 a.m.

Students will practice close reading, note taking, and essay writing through work on Latin's assigned summer reading for incoming freshmen. Students can expect to solidify study skills as they prepare for success in high school. Enrollment is open to students entering 9th grade at Latin in the fall.

Wearable Tech (Grades 5-8)

June 18-22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Led by Latin’s Technology Integration Specialist and lower school teacher Fiona Deeney, Wearable Tech will explore coding and circuitry opportunities used in modern fashion. Campers will design and develop their own wearable creation.

Camp Trekker is based at the Latin School, but campers will travel off-site daily, visiting favorite Chicago attractions and hidden city treasures. Campers learn to plan and to traverse Chicago using public transportation, walking, and buses.

Explorers (Grades 5-6)

Explorers will have the opportunity to learn about leadership, community, and friendship, all while enjoying new activities and camp favorites! Group and individually selected activities will give campers the chance to "explore" and challenge themselves.

Campers will find fun and challenges with new experiences as well as with camp favorites such as swim lessons, creative arts, and sports. Activities may be mixed-ages depending on interest.
