Summer@Latin is a hands-on experience where every program blends creativity, teamwork and fun.

Guided by our team of trained counselors and skilled teachers, campers will dive into themed weeks that utilize Latin’s top-notch facilities and take advantage of our proximity to Chicago’s world-class museums, parks and cultural institutions.

Camps

Camp Staff
Our summer staff and teachers are the cornerstone of our programs. Therefore, we take great care in hiring and training qualified and mature staff members who have experience working with children and will create a fun and unique day for their camp groups. Counselors assigned to camp groups are responsible for ensuring the safety of their groups and for facilitating age-appropriate activities during the day.

Health and Safety
Latin’s Director of Student Health and Wellness serves as our on-site summer nurse. They are responsible for reviewing health and medical forms before our sessions start, and for handling onsite health needs as they arise.

When you register, you’ll be asked to complete a medical form so we know how best to serve your child’s physical and emotional needs. Please contact the Summer@Latin Office prior to registration to discuss any health concerns.

Swimming
The aquatics curriculum follows the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Every full-day camp group is scheduled for weekly swimming lessons. Certified swim instructors ensure that campers enter the water at an appropriate pace and skill level. Each camper participates in a skills assessment and is assigned to an appropriate swim group. Children in the Navigators Program begin with Level I.

Lunch
Lunch is provided for all full-day campers four days a week, including a weekly barbecue. On field trip days, campers need to bring their own non-perishable, nut-free lunches and drinks.

Field Trips
All full-day campers take weekly field trips around the Chicago area. Some field trip locations will be within walking distance, while others will require the use of a school bus.

Behavior
Summer@Latin promotes the highest standards of honorable conduct, civility, and fair play. Campers are expected to treat their peers, counselors, and all camp and school staff with kindness and respect, and to take care of school property and the belongings of others.

To maintain a positive and safe environment, Summer@Latin reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny any child the opportunity to participate in camp if their social conduct or behavior is deemed unsatisfactory by the camp administration.

Photo Practice Statement
Our staff members and Latin’s Communications Office will occasionally take photos of campers participating in Summer@Latin events and activities. These photos may be used in print and electronic communications (e.g., website, social media and marketing materials). If you have questions about this practice or the use of your child's image, please contact Latin's Communications Office at 312.582.6070. If you would prefer that your child not be photographed during camps or classes, please notify the Summer@Latin Office.

Courses

Admission
Admission is open to all interested students who meet the requirements found in the course descriptions.

Credit
Students can earn high school credit for academic courses, provided they complete all required coursework as outlined by the instructor.

Latin offers courses worth one-half credit (equivalent to a semester course) for students entering or currently in high school. Non-Latin students may request a course description and copy of the teacher’s evaluation of their work from the Summer@Latin Office.

Please note that each school, including Latin, determines its own credit acceptance policies. We recommend checking with your school in advance to confirm how it awards credit for summer coursework.

Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for successful completion of Latin’s summer programs. Unexcused absences may result in loss of credit in an academic course or dismissal from the program. There will be no refund of tuition if a student voluntarily withdraws or is dismissed due to non-attendance or misconduct.

Financial Aid
Financial aid is only available to Latin students who will be receiving aid in the fall of 2026. It is primarily apportioned for credited classes, with limited aid available for other academic courses. Latin students should contact the Summer@Latin Office for specific information about financial aid before registering.

Dress and Conduct
Students’ clothing must be neat, clean, and appropriate for school. Students are expected to follow all school rules and conduct themselves in a respectful and polite manner.

Lunch
Food service is not provided during the summer. Students are encouraged to bring nut-free bag lunches. A 30-minute break for lunch is scheduled for all full-day courses.
