Dear Families, Faculty and Staff,

As we look forward to welcoming all students, faculty and staff back to campus over the next couple of weeks, we want to highlight details of our COVID protocols and policies. Our goal is to create a safe environment for our students, faculty and staff to learn and work together. The COVID Response Team continues to monitor and evaluate the status of the pandemic and will update Latin's policies accordingly.

Listed below is important information to review before the school year begins. Please read all sections and complete the Acknowledgement Form for Shield Illinois by Wednesday, September 1.

These policies are in place for the safety and wellbeing of our entire community. Please review Latin's COVID-19 Policies & FAQ which can be found on the RomanNet Resource board or Latin's public website.

If you have any questions regarding this information please email COVID-alert@latinschool.org.

Sincerely,

Latin's COVID Response Team

Shield Illinois Testing

Latin will test all unvaccinated students, faculty and staff weekly through a saliva-based PCR test provided by Shield Illinois starting on Thursday, September 9. Testing will occur on campus under supervision on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The test will be administered to unvaccinated students differently in each division to best serve those students and have the least disruptive impact on the learning environment. Additional information on logistics will be shared by division prior to the start of testing.

If a student is participating in the test-to-stay program, the testing coordinator will administer the test on days 1, 3, 5 and 7 after the date of exposure. If a student is absent on the day of testing they will test the next available day.

All Latin students, faculty and staff will need to complete the Shield Illinois Testing Notice and  Acknowledgement Form regardless of vaccination status. The testing program will be offered to fully vaccinated individuals if they are named a close contact to a positive COVID-19 individual. Please see the "Fully vaccinated close contacts" section of the "Close Contact Protocols" via the link below for more information.

Positive Case Protocols
Any individual who receives a positive diagnostic test is required to isolate for 10 days. Day 0 of isolation is the day symptoms started OR the day the test was administered if the individual is asymptomatic.

Close Contact Protocols

Click on the linked title above to read the protocols for the following close contact scenarios.

  • Unvaccinated close contact (where exposure allows for test-to-stay)
  • Unvaccinated close contact (where exposure does not allow for test-to-stay)
  • Fully vaccinated close contacts
  • Close contacts with history of COVID

Communicating in response to COVID cases at Latin

The COVID Response Team will be in contact with you if you or your student is identified as a close contact. The COVID-19 Dashboard will be updated in real time and is your source for information on the number of current cases and recovered cases at Latin.
