![]() Dear Families, Faculty, Staff and Trustees,
Amidst the excitement and celebrations of the end of the school year, we want to pause to acknowledge the significant and troubling increase in incidents of antisemitism in the Chicago area, United States and throughout the world, ranging from hate speech to violent attacks. These acts are evidence of identity-based bias against Jewish people that must be combated through awareness, support and education.
We want to share a message of support to all members of the Latin community who identify as Jewish. We reiterate our firm belief that no act of hate—including hate speech, violence or discrimination—has a place in our community. And that Latin is a community where every member can feel seen, supported and safe. We are all impacted differently depending on the identities that we hold. Complexities like these make understanding and perspective-taking more important than ever.
Religion/spirituality is one of the "Big 8" identities that we seek to affirm and educate about at Latin. Below are resources about antisemitism curated by Latin's DEI team for you to explore individually or as a family. Please continue to grow and learn with us.
Sincerely,
Randall Dunn Head of School
Eleannor Maajid Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
