Latin's Diversity Council, in conjunction with LIFE (Latin's Initiative for Ethics), is pleased to welcome Shaka Senghor as our school's 2017 Martin Luther King Jr. Speaker.

Shaka Senghor is a leading voice in criminal justice reform and the president and co-founder of #BeyondPrisons, an initiative designed to uplift the voices and experiences of those impacted by the criminal justice system. His memoir, Writing My Wrongs: Life, Death and Redemption in an American Prison is a tale of forgiveness and second chances. Senghor was featured in Ava DuVernay's film 13th, a documentary on mass incarceration in the United States.

LIFE has hosted a few screenings of the film for students and Parents Learning Together Series has screened it for parents this year.
