One text is all it takes to hear stories of survival with the project, "Messages from the Past: Never Forget" by Naomi A. '22.
"My overall vision of this project is to bring the stories of the Holocaust to teenagers by sharing these stories via our preferred form of communication: texting!" Naomi explained. Once a month, teens receive a text featuring the story of a Holocaust survivor who lives in the Chicagoland area. After receiving the text, users are able to respond to the message.
"My goals are to spark conversation about the Holocaust and to ensure that these stories are never forgotten," Naomi explained. All subscribers receive the same story at the same time which facilitates discussion about the Holocaust among the teens. All information in My goals are to spark conversation about the Holocaust and to ensure that these stories are never forgotten.
Naomi A. '22 the messages comes from the book Never Heard Never Forget by Faina Kravchenko, which was assembled by Holocaust Community Services at CJE SeniorLife and through interviews with Holocaust survivors.
