During the summer, Latin's faculty/staff engaged in professional development work to strengthen diversity, equity and inclusion at Latin.
They focused on deepening their understanding of the varying levels of impact that identity has on their own lives, the people around them and beyond. Each faculty/staff member was asked to familiarize themselves with Latin’s definitions of diversity, equity and inclusion to build a common language; read one of two books, "The Talk" or "Tell Me Who You Are", which included first-person narratives that explored intersecting identities; as well as choose at least one other resource to read, watch, engage with, listen to or explore. The resources were accompanied by a journal with prompts curated by the DEI team that encourages reflection both from a personal and professional perspective. Faculty and staff will continue to engage with these resources throughout the school year in different forums, including all-school faculty/staff DEI meetings.
Latin families are invited to learn and grow with Latin's faculty and staff as they continue to strive for a more supportive, equitable and inclusive community. Please find the resources here.
