Instructor: Michael Gillett
Learn the basics of creating in the moving image field. Using digital video cameras, students will learn the fundamentals of film production. Techniques in camera movement, lighting, story boarding, sound, and editing will be taught. Instructor Michael Gillett will introduce concepts in interviewing, advertising, animation, documentary, collage music videos, and storytelling. Each student will create a portfolio series of their own productions and collaborate on projects with their classmates. Basic video editing will be done using iMovie.

This class wil explore a variety of issues, styles, and techniques in the art of painting. Students will conceive, plan, and create original paintings that express an idea, feeling, or point of view. Students will learn to use traditional and experimental media. Students will shape the elements of line, space, color, light, and texture to express their ideas, to describe their perceptions, and to create interest, memorability, and/or beauty.

This course welcomes beginning, intermediate, and experienced photographers. Led by Latin's Visual Arts Department chair Betty Lark Ross, students will photograph people, objects, and the city, as well as explore individual interests. Class members will investigate camera functions, develop their own film, and experiment with hand coloring and solarizing to create interesting effects. Students must have a 35mm camera with a manual mode.

Instructor: Nick Baer
Instructed by Latin School teacher Nick Baer, this course will start with short form improvisational games emphasizing immediate reaction, fast thinking, concentration, and wit. We will move on to long form improvisation emphasizing sustaining and building character, interaction with other actors, and the development of fully realized and structured stories. The final project will be the writing and rehearsal of an original long-form improvisational piece to be presented to an audience. The class will require limited out of class writing.
