Camp Sprout for Parents and Tots Tell a Friend!
Who: 27-36 months (age as of September 1, 2008)
When:
Section A: M,W, 9-10:30 a.m.

How Much:
$325 per Session, $600 for both Sessions

Camp Sprout provides a time for you and your tot to "grow" together through outdoor play, games, crafts, and songs. Facilitated by an early childhood educator, activities are designed to meet the curiosities and abilities of the 2-year-old child, focusing on a balance between independence and group time. A snack is included. Each registration is for one parent/child pair. A parent must accompany his or her child. If a parent cannot attend, a caregiver is welcome to attend. Although we discourage families from bringing unregistered children to this program, please phone the office in advance if you must make special arrangements to bring an extra child. Please note that there will be a charge of $10 per additional child for each day that they attend.

Camp Discovery (Half Day) Tell a Friend!
Who: 3-4 years (as of September 1, 2008)
When:
Section A: MWF, 9 a.m.-noon (3-year-olds only)
Section B: M-F, 9 a.m.-noon

Session 1: June 9-July 3
Session 2: July 7-August 1
How Much:
Section A: $650 per Session; $1,250 for both Sessions
Section B: $950 per Session; $1,850 for both Sessions

The Discovery program is designed to introduce our youngest campers to day camp in a welcoming, fun way through games, activities, special field trip days, and much more! Led by counselors and early childhood educators, days are structured into group play, activities, and outdoor games, all of which provide campers a chance to "discover" the fun of day camp!

Activities: Campers engage in art projects, cooperative learning games, singing, movement, and outdoor play. Visiting performers come weekly to provide on-site field trips. Section B campers also may take local field trips.

Supervision and Safety: A 1:4 staff to camper ratio is maintained, allowing campers to explore, learn, and grow in a group of children under the guidance of trained counselors. Mid-morning snack is provided for all campers. Campers must be toilet-trained.

Navigators Tell a Friend!
Who: 4-5 years (as of September 1, 2008)
When:
M-F, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Session 1: June 9-July 3
Session 2: July 7-August 1
How Much:
$1,400 per Session; $2,750 for both Sessions

Endless activities are the key to the success of our youngest full day camp. Weekly in-house and local field trips will be taken. Campers also participate in swim lessons. The daily schedule is designed to appeal to the learning style and curiosity of the young camper, utilizing outdoor and indoor space for projects and games.

Activities: Collage, Play Dough sculpture, cooking, paper making, soccer, scavenger hunts, kickball, singing and movement, group games, sports, outdoor play, parachute games, arts and crafts, and much more!

Beginning Learn to Swim: Two days each week, Navigators will have the opportunity to participate in the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Navigators will begin with Level I: Water Exploration, and progress into primary skills. Campers are grouped according to their skill level, and each group works with a swim instructor and a counselor in the water.

Supervision and Safety: Safety at camp is the top priority. To ensure that our campers are able to have a fun and safe camp experience, campers will be grouped according to age. Counselors will be provided based on a 1:4 ratio in each group. A rest time will also be provided for the Navigators after their lunch break so that they can rejuvenate before the start of a fun afternoon!

Voyagers Tell a Friend!
Who: Grades 1-2
When:

How Much:
$1,400 per Session; $2,750 for both Sessions

Take a voyage through the summer with a program designed for the active and creative camper. Sports, crafts, scavenger hunts, field trips, and swim lessons will round out this camp experience.

Activities: Mask making, soccer, kite making, group games, basketball, scavenger hunts, outdoor education, beach days, kickball, computers, drama, zoo day, and much more!

Supervision: A 1:8 counselor to camper ratio is maintained in each camp group. Campers are placed according to the grade they are entering in the fall.

Adventurers Tell a Friend!
Who: Grades 3-4
When:
M-F, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Session 2: July 7-August 1
How Much:
$1,400 per Session; $2,750 for both Sessions

Campers will find fun and challenges in new experiences as well as in camp favorites such as swim lessons, creative arts, and sports. Activities may be mixed-ages depending on interest.

Activities: Kayaking, nature hikes, outdoor cooking, sculpture, free choice Wednesdays, sports and games, swim lessons three-four days each week, arts and crafts, drama, sports, computers, outdoor education, beach days, and more! Weekly adventure field trips may include visits to local climbing walls and water parks.

Supervision and Safety: Campers are grouped by age levels, and activities may include children of varying ages depending on interest and ability. A maximum 1:10 counselor to camper ratio will be maintained in each group.

Explorers Tell a Friend!
Who: Grades 5-6

How Much:
$700 per two-week Session; $2750 for all four Sessions

Explorers will have the opportunity to learn about leadership, community, and friendship., all while enjoying new activities and camp favorites! Group and individually selected activities will give campers the chance to "explore" and challenge themselves. The end of each session will culminate with the "Latin Day Camp Jamboree," a carnival designed and facilitated by the Explorers and held in Lincoln Park for the younger day campers.

Activities: Kayaking, nature hikes, outdoor cooking, sculpture, choice Wednesdays, sports and games, swim lessons three-four days each week, arts and crafts, drama, sports, outdoor education, beach days, and more! Weekly adventure field trips may include visits to local climbing walls and water parks.

Supervision and Safety: Campers are grouped by age levels, and activities may include children of varying ages depending on interest and ability. A maximum 1:10 counselor to camper ratio will be maintained in each group.

Camp Trekker Tell a Friend!
Who: Grades 5-7

$700 per two-week Session; $2750 for all four Sessions

Camp Trekker is based at The Latin School, but campers will travel off-site daily, visitng favorite Chicago attractions and hidden city treasures. Campers learn to plan and to traverse Chicago using public transportation. Special field trips and visits to pools and water parks are included.

Activities: Scavenger hunts, group games, weekly water days, kayaking, outdoor cooking, water park day, arts and crafts, sports, computers, and much more!

Leaders in Training (LIT) Tell a Friend!
Who: Grades 8-9
When:
M-F, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Session 1: June 9-July 3
Session 2: July 7-August 1
How Much:
$1,400 per Session; $2,750 for both Sessions

In this challenging program, LITs will develop organization skills, patience, and strategies for working with younger children, and will learn how to implement creative camp ideas. The schedule includes training in child development, camp health and safety, and leadership.

Application is required.

Extended Day Tell a Friend!
Who: Age 4-Grade 7
When:
Section A: M-F, 8-9 a.m. and 3-5:30 p.m.
Section B: M-F, 8-9 a.m.
Section C: M-F, 3-5:30 p.m.

Session 1: June 9-July 3
Session 2: July 7-August 1
How Much:
Section A: $850 per Session; $1650 for both Sessions
Section B: $255 per Session; $465 for both Sessions
Section C: $625 per Session; $1200 for both Sessions

Extended Day is available only to full-day campers on each day that camp is in session. The program takes place in Latin's Lower School and provides a safe, supervised environment where children can choose from a number of informal activities including board games, craft activities, gym play, and quiet time. Breakfast is included in the morning program and a snack is offered in the afternoon.

Campers enrolled in Extended Day must be picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. A late charge of $5 every five minutes will be charged after 5:30 p.m.

Bus Service Tell a Friend!
Who: Available for the 9 a.m. arrivals and 3 p.m. departures only.
When:
Session 1: June 9-July 3
Session 2: July 7-August 1
How Much:
$200 per Session; $350 for both Sessions

Latin Day Camp contracts with an independent bus company to provide safe, reliable door-to-door bus service to our camp families. Busing is available within the following boundaries: from 600 north (Ohio Street) to 4600 north (Wilson Avenue) and from Lake Shore Drive to 1600 west (Ashland Avenue).

There is no mid-day bus service or bus service for Extended Day. Travel times vary and may total 45 minutes, depending on your location. Notification of your pick-up and drop-off times will be mailed to you before camp starts. The deadline to register for bus service is May 15, 2008. Busing cannot be guaranteed if registering after May 15.
