In a child's life every moment has the potential to be a learning moment. Because of the creativity and innovation of our teachers, there are countless learning moments during the Lower School year.

Beginning with the first day of junior kindergarten, our students learn about manners, kindness, and civility. In October, some of our students read scary fables leading up to the Lower School Halloween Parade. In November, senior kindergarten students apply strategic thinking as they play math games with their parents during Senior Kindergarten Math Night. In December, our second graders imagine the struggles of immigrants coming to the United States as they simulate the Ellis Island experience. During January and February students from Senior Kindergarten through fifth grade celebrate what they are learning in the classroom through a series of grade-level assemblies. In March the tenth graders come over to the Lower School to share their stories about geometry with the fourth graders. In April the entire Lower School participates in the World's Largest Math Event. In May, our students share the books they have written and published throughout the year with their peers and meet professional writers during Authors Day.
