The World's Largest Math Event |
The Lower School celebrated Mathematics Education Month on April 26 by participating in the eighth annual World's Largest Math Event.
Each year the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics organizes the World's Largest Math Event to introduce Kindergarten through fifth grade students to "the beauty and utility of mathematics in everyday life."
The theme for this year's event was "Entertaining Mathematics." Students throughout the Lower School spent the morning working on graphing, ratio, measurement, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction games related to music, literature, movies and theatre, or television.
Activities ranged from comparing heights of characters in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to figuring out the probability of a letter showing up on the Wheel of Fortune television show.
Senior Kindergarten students learn to measure ingredients for green eggs and ham.
