The Great State Debate

Which is the best state in the United States? That's what Latin's second graders tried to determine on February 22 with their Great State Debate assembly.

Decked out in colorful costumes representing their state of choice and armed with fun facts, it was the second graders' mission to convince a panel of very choosy judges—including J.K. Rowling, Albert Einstein, Amelia Earhart, Elvis, and Lower School Principal Ms. Hennelly—that their state has the most positive attributes.

In the end, the judges concluded that each state is wonderful. But along the way, through song, humor, and a lot of creativity, the second graders were able to teach their peers in the Lower School, parents, and teachers a little something about America.
