Latin's Junior Kindergarten Students Share Their
Favorite Thanksgiving Recipes

Below are our junior kindergarten students’ creative recipes for
some Thanksgiving classics:
Gavin:
Put the turkey in the oven at hot, a little. And then you cut it up into little
pieces. And then you let it stay there for a little bit—for, like, a few
minutes. And then that’s how you make a turkey.
To make a pie, you get some seeds. You put them in the pie. Stir it, and bake
it for an hour at five degrees. Then you’ll make pumpkin pie.
Ian:
You get a turkey at Potash. And then you put lots of candy on it. Make it a
gingerbread house turkey. You really could do it. Take the bones out. You don’t
want to eat the bones, but you can save them and study them. Then you put it
in the
oven for 50 minutes at high. Take the plates out, and then put the forks out,
and the spoons. And then you put the turkey on the plate. And then you eat
it.
To make an orange pie, you carve it inside and then you put it in a big, round
bowl. Peel the oranges and add some candy inside. And cut it in half. Bake it
for 50 seconds, at high. And you put it in squares, and then you eat it.
Noah:
You get a turkey from the store, and then you bake it. You put mushrooms on it
and then put some cherries, and then you put a little bit more mushrooms. And
then you bake it for two minutes at six. You eat.
For cherry pie you put stuff in it. Cherries. And more cherries, and you put
sugar and flour and mushrooms. And that’s it.
Nina:
You get a turkey at Thanksgiving. I already know that! My mom told me last night.
We usually first put it in the oven for 10 minutes and then we get it out. We
put salt on it, I would say. We put a top on it and then we put it in the refrigerator
for Thanksgiving.
Pumpkin Pie: First you get a pumpkin. And then we pop the top off and take out
all of the seeds. And then we put them in the pie that we made already through
the little holes. And then we eat it up and eat it up!
Emma:
I want to do the salad first. I put some tomatoes in and I put some cheese
in. And then I put some dressing in. Next, I make a chicken and turkey. I like
to
make turkeys because they are the best holiday. I don’t know what I’m
talking about. I put the turkey in the pan in the microwave for two hours at
a hundred million trillion. I put some spray stuff on first, and stuffing.
Then I serve it out!
Lucy:
You get a turkey at a farm. I have to keep it, and to get it home I catch it
with a net! And I catch two of them, and I let one go and I keep the other
one. You eat it when you cook it. We put sugar on it, and coffee, and juice
for us
to drink. You put it in the stove for a few minutes at five. When I keep it
I need some paper so it won’t spill. I go out from the park and I come
back, and I go with Remy, and she has a play date, and then we go eat it! And
then
I take a walk, and then I eat it again! And then I go swimming at the pool
and I eat it again!
Alexandra
You get a turkey at the grocery store. Take it home and put pepper on it ? "P" is
for pepper. Put salt on it? "C" is for salt. Put seeds on it. Put
it in a cup? "D" is for cup. You bake it for 15 minutes at two degrees.
Take it out and eat it.
You bake a pumpkin pie with strawberry and blueberry
and watermelon. I also want it to have apples. Sugar makes it sweet. Put it
in the oven for 59 minutes at pumpkin pie temperature. That’s cold! And
we have a good dog.
Nicholas
I think the best way to make a turkey is to cut it out and paint it.
Ally
You get a turkey at the farm and the zoo. Mom puts some oil and a lot stuffing
on the turkey before she bakes it for 40 minutes at hot. When she takes it out,
she puts her gloves on. Then I go to sleep and say my prayers.
Sam
When you go in a real meadow, you find a turkey and then you bring it to your
house. You catch it with a net, and then you lock it up, and then you put it
on a hot stove and it will fry. And when you take it out after 20 minutes at
a gazillion degrees and your friends come. You can cut it up and eat it with
your friends. You could put anything you want on it like cheese or hot sauce,
or Parmesan cheese, dressing.
For blueberry pie you get the blueberries at the grocery market and then you
bring them home. Then you get some sugar. You bake it on paper for five minutes.
Let it cool off. Now I’m done!
Katherine
You get a turkey from your mom on Thanksgiving. She puts a little salt and pepper
on it before she cooks it.Layla
You get a turkey at the grocery store. You can put it in a pan where you keep
the turkey. You put cranberry sauce on it and bake for one hour at 45 degrees.
I made apple pie with my grandma with granny smith apples. I mixed it with cinnamon
and sugar. We baked it until the day was over. My dad had some for dessert. He
likes granny smith apples.
Lauren
You get turkeys from my mom’s house. You put a little parsley on the
chicken and put it on a pan and then put it in the oven for five minutes.
Then you take
it off the pan, and put it on a plate, and give it to your kid and eat it!
Jacob
You get a turkey from a turkey. At my house I don’t put the turkey in the
oven. The store cooks it. For Thanksgiving, I eat chicken with my turkey. I eat
broccoli and I think that’s it.
Abigail
I get some turkey from a rooster or a hen. You should boil it for about 24
minutes before you cook it in a pan on a stove. If you want, you could put
pepper or
salt, or even salt and pepper on it. And you can also put chocolate chips
and marshmallows and Chicken McNuggets, too, and also, turkey sandwiches.
Then
you cook it for 25 minutes at the highest degrees. When it’s done, blow on
it really hard, and then when it’s warm, eat it! That’s all!
