Parents’ Council Service Volunteer Award—Spring 2002
"This is the seventh year that this award has been given. It was started by Carolyn Arnolds when she was President of Parents’ Council in 1995-96. It is to recognize a parent who has given a great deal of time to the Parents’ Council, often in many capacities that are unapplauded and unrecognized by many, but that are so necessary.
"This year the Executive Committee felt that two parents who will be leaving the School soon because their children are growing up, deserved this award. Their names are engraved on the plaque and the plaque hangs at the entrance to the Upper School.
"This year the awards go to Vicki Samuels and Lisa Tribbett.
"Vicki’s son Ben graduates this year. Her artwork can be seen just past the front desk in this building. As is the tradition, she gathered together all the pictures of the seniors as they are today and as they were many years ago as babies. She made displays of these, which everyone can enjoy. She has served the Parents’ Council in so many invaluable ways in past years. She was first grade parent rep, she was the parent volunteer who ran Live & Learn for a total of 4 years. She ran Bazaarnival one year and ran its various committees prior to that. She served on the nominating committee one year for the primary school. She ran the consensus committee for both the Middle and the Upper Schools. She was nominating chair in 1999-2000. This does not list all the committees she served on, just the ones she headed.
"Lisa has only two children left at the school: Charlie, who’s a senior, and Jason, who’s a freshman. Her history is long as well, serving both the Parents’ Council and the School in many capacities. She was grade chair for the JK in 1988-89. She served on the nominating committee for the primary school in 1990-91. She was the vice president for the primary school in 1992-94. She served as nominating chair in 1994-95. She was the new families chair in 1997. This year she again served on the nominating committee for the Upper School. She hosted a scholarship dinner for me when I changed the event’s format in 1992 and co-chaired the scholarship dinner event in 1994 and again hosted a dinner for Middle School families in 2000. She created the Dream Essay in 1998. She served the auctions in many ways: as invitations chair and twice as volunteer chair.
"These two women certainly deserve this award. We are very proud to have their names on this plaque for all to see."
