Parents' Council: Committees
Grade Chairs
Grade chairs form the link between their child's grade and the School's faculty and administration. They report on their grades' activities for the divisional newsletters and organize volunteers for both Parents' Council and grade-related projects. Among many other activities, Latin parents help first-graders make puppets, supervise the Lower School lunchroom, provide snacks for Senior mailboxes, organize parent socials, and plan graduation festivities.

Executive Committee
The parent body elects the officers and events coordinators who make up the Executive Committee of the Parents' Council. This group meets monthly with the Headmaster and guest faculty members and administrators. At these meetings, the Committee members have the opportunity to express their concerns to key administrators and to learn more about the activities and operations of the School. Latin parents may receive the minutes of the Executive Committee by e-mail by contacting one of the officers.

Athletics Committees
Working directly with the Middle and Upper School team coaches, parent volunteers serve as team representatives. The Athletics Committees ensure that refreshments are available at practices and games, encourage attendance at athletic events, and provide assistance to coaches in such areas as scorekeeping, maintaining statistics, and helping to coordinate the fall and spring athletic banquets.

New Families Committees
This committee arranges a friendly welcome and smooth transition for all new Latin families. Beginning its efforts in the spring, the committee recruits hosts and assists with a series of activities such as coffees and other receptions where new families have the opportunity to meet with other parents and learn how to become part of the Latin School community.

Parents' Roundtable
The purpose of the Parents' Roundtable is to provide a vital link between parents and parents as well as between parents and the school to work in partnership for the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our children. This committee works with Latin staff members to provide programs related to effective parenting, child development, and other important issues. On each divisional level, the Parents' Roundtable Committee plans and sponsors speakers and discussions on parenting issues such as sex education, nutrition, internet safety, friendship, and adolescent psychology.

International Families
The International Families Committee was formed to bring together parents and teachers who have international backgrounds or experience. The committee aims to act as a forum to address the concerns of international families and to provide a resource for the School. Events sponsored by the Committee include foreign language breakfasts and an international dinner during the School's annual foreign language week each February. The Committee also holds seminars on such subjects as homework, communication with teachers, and discipline.
