Renowned Family Psychologist and Author Michael Thompson to Speak At The Latin School of Chicago

Chicago - Michael Thompson, Ph.D., preeminent child psychologist, co-director of the Cambridge Center for School Consultation, and best-selling author, will come to The Latin School of Chicago on August 25th to discuss his latest book, Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys, with Latin School faculty, parents, and students.

His book, co-written with Dan Kindlon, looks at the troubled inner world of boys in contemporary society and how miseducation plays out in boys' relationships with their parents, their peers, their schools, and ultimately with themselves. Thompson attempts to explain why boys need to be taught by example that emotional connection is the sturdiest bridge between boyhood and manhood, and that emotional courage is the truest test of a young man's character.

The Latin School of Chicago is an independent, co-educational day school with 1,035 students in junior kindergarten through grade twelve.

All media is invited and photo opportunities are available by calling Heather Augustyn at (312) 573-4646.
