Nationally Ranked Santia Jackson Starts 1998-99 Season at Latin's Thanksgiving Tournament
Chicago -Latin School Senior Santia Jackson begins her last season as a high school basketball player before heading off to Georgetown University, where she has signed to play women's basketball. The second annual Thanksgiving Tournament will be held on November 23rd with Santia playing at 6:00 p.m., November 24th at 6:00 p.m., and November 25th at 2:30 p.m. at The Latin School of Chicago in the Upper School Field Gym. Santia and the rest of the Latin team will be playing along with Mother Guerin High School, Ridgewood High School, and Notre Dame High School.
Santia is ranked in the top 20 girl's basketball players in the midwest by Street & Smiths magazine, is ranked 64th in the country by sports statistician Mike Flynn, and was named MVP by the Blue Star Camp this past summer-an extraordinary feat in and of itself, and especially at a small school like Latin where there are only 76 students in Santia's graduating class. She averages 30 points a game and is nearing breaking the 1000 point barrier this season. Santia is also nearing breaking the school career point record for girls basketball-1158 points. Earlier this fall, Santia was recruited by and signed with Georgetown University. She plans to someday play for the WNBA.
