For Immediate Release Local Student Brings Ballet to Foster Children at DCFS Chicago -Thalia Aurinko-Mostow, a tenth-grade student at The Latin School of Chicago, will bring her class of foster children from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to the Wrigley Theatre at Latin on Saturday, December 19th to perform the Nutcracker. The children are part of the "Pathways to Development" program sponsored by Ballet Chicago. Thalia has served as the children's teaching assistant since last September, demonstrating ballet steps, correcting and assisting the children's execution of the steps, and even laundering their dancewear weekly. She helps instruct the weekly class of about 10 students, ranging in age from seven to ten. Thalia has been dancing since she was four years old and passes on her love of dance to these children, many of whom have been abused or come from conditions that may not have allowed them the opportunity to study ballet.
