Chicago Blues Featured in Two Live & Learn Programs
Chicago - WXRT Radio's Terri Hemmert and Bruce Iglauer, founder and president
of Alligator Records, each will share personal reminiscences about the Chicago
Blues scene at two upcoming programs offered through Latin's Live & Learn
program.
Terri Hemmert on the Blues: Sweet Home Chicago - Well known radio personality
Terri Hemmert will trace the blues from the acoustic Delta blues to the electric
sound of Chicago blues. Terri will delve into her video collection to show performances
dating back to the Jump blues of the '40s through the contemporary generation
of blues artists. She'll pay tribute to some of the blues greats including Louis
Jordan, Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, and Robert Cray. Tuesday, October 19, 7-9
p.m. Fee is $25. Location: The Latin School of Chicago, 59 W. North Ave.
Chicago Blues Experience: Bruce Iglauer, founder and president of the largest
independent contemporary blues label in the world, will provide a historical
look at the blues - from Mississippi right up to Buddy Guy's Legends Blues Club
here in Chicago, the site of this event. Participants will enjoy live blues
music at the legendary Buddy Guy's. Tuesday, November 9, 8-10:30 p.m. Fee is
$25. Location: Buddy Guy's Legends, 754 S. Wabash Ave.
The Live & Learn program at The Latin School of Chicago offers a broad variety
of adult evening classes. Instructors in the program donate their time and resources,
and proceeds benefit the financial aid program at The Latin School of Chicago.
