Latin School
Student Named High School Field
Hockey Player of the Year
The Illinois High
School Field Hockey Association has named Latin School senior Carrie Holst High
School Player of the Year.
Holst, 17, of the
Streeterville neighborhood, plays center midfield and is team captain for the
Latin Romans. She is the Romans' top scorer with 17 goals so far this season
and the team's leader in assists. Holst has been chosen for the Illinois Field
Hockey All-Academic Team and the All-Conference Team during all four years of
high school. She has been selected for All-State during the last three years.
"Carrie is
one of the hardest working athletes I have ever coached," said Latin varsity
field hockey coach Molly Arnolds." She plays a very quick highly developed
stick work game."
Outside of school, Holst has participated in the National Futures Program and
for the last two years has played on the Windy City Flyers Blue Team.
In addition to
being among Latin's top female athletes, Holst is a straight A student in the
top three percent of her class. She intends to play Hockey in college and is
being sought out by several elite schools.
This season the
Latin Romans won the Independent Schools League championship and have a 11-4
record overall.
