Foreign Policy Advisor, Author, and Journalist Fareed Zakaria
to Speak at Latin School
Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International and political analyst for
ABC’s “This Week,” will speak at The Latin School of Chicago
(59 W. North Blvd.) on April 29, 2003 at 1:20 p.m. Zakaria will address “Terrorism
in an Age of Globalization.”
Described by Esquire Magazine as “the most influential foreign policy
advisor of his generation,” Zakaria is the author of the recently published
The Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad (April 2003)
and From Wealth to Power, an examination of America’s role on the world
stage. He is a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal, The
New York Times, and The New Yorker, and in October 2001 he wrote Newsweek’s most
talked about post-September 11 cover story “Why They Hate Us.”
Zakaria’s visit to the school is sponsored by the Latin’s “Initiative
for Ethics” (L.I.F.E.) program, a unique four-year student-organized
initiative to explore ethics issues. During its inaugural school year (2002-2003),
L.I.F.E. has focused on ethics in journalism. Guest speakers have included
reporters, editors, and producers from local print and broadcast media.
