Latin School Students
to Simulate Nuremberg Trials (12/7/01)
The Latin School of Chicago will be holding its annual simulation of the
Nuremberg Trials on Sunday, December 9, in the Richard J. Daley Center
beginning at 8:15 a.m. The entire proceedings are expected to take approximately
12 hours.
Live
& Learn Fall 2001 Session Kicks Off (9/14/01)
The Live & Learn program at The Latin School of Chicago will kick
off its Fall 2001 session on September 24, offering nearly 250 adult education
classes. The classes will be held through mid-December and are open to
the public for a fee. This
session's courses include a host of unique offerings including "Monster
Bash: Haunted Stories and Witching Cocktail Hour," on October 17,
"How to Get Out of Debt: Breaking the Credit Card Cycle," October
23, and "RealAge: Are you as Young as You Can Be: An Evening With
Dr. Michael F. Roizen," on November 15.
Checkmate for Chess at
The Latin School (2/28/01)
Some of the nation's top young chess players will compete at Chicago's
largest scholastic chess tournament on March 3, at The Latin School of
Chicago 59 W. North Blvd. (the corner of Clark and North). About 300 students
from 40 Illinois and Wisconsin schools will begin an intense morning and
afternoon of matches at 9 a.m. in Latin's field gym. The event is expected
to wrap up around 3 p.m.
Young
Poets Slam at Latin (2/26/01)
The Latin School of Chicago will host its second annual Interscholastic
Team Poetry Slam at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2001. Oak Park &
River Forest and New Trier high schools have been invited to send two
teams each to participate in the main on-stage event.

School Junior Named To All-State Scholastic Bowl Team (2/20/01)
Latin School of Chicago eleventh grader James Davis has been named to
the All-State Scholastic Bowl First Team for the 2000-2001 season, the
Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association announced this
week. Davis, 16, of the North Side, is the only student currently attending
a Chicago school named to this year's team, according to the association.
He was among some 8,000 Illinois students from 500 high schools competing
in this year's scholastic bowl.

Now for Summer at Latin 2001 (2/14/01)
Registration is currently underway for The Latin School of Chicago's tots
through teens summer programs. From June through August, Latin offers
a variety of recreational, athletic, and educational activities for children
from 24 months to 18 years, including a new expanded 8-week summer camp.

education classes. The classes will be held through mid-June and are open
