School Students to Simulate Nuremberg Trials (11/29/00)
The Latin School of Chicago will be holding its annual simulation of the
Nuremberg Trials on Sunday, December 3, on the 24th floor of the Richard
J. Daley Center beginning at 9:15 a.m. The entire proceedings are expected
to take approximately 12 hours.

Invited to Open House At The Latin School (11/1/00)
The Latin School of Chicago, the city's oldest independent school founded
in 1888, will host an open house for grades 6-12 on Sunday, November 19,
at 1 p.m. This afternoon event, open to the public, provides an opportunity

While Venus and Serena Williams have taken the tennis world by storm,
The Latin School of Chicago's own sister act is making a splash at area
swim meets this season. Katherine and Elizabeth Paglini, two Upper School
students from Chicago's Northwest Side will likely lead the school's 14-member
team to the state swimming championships in November.

Get ready for the holiday season with The Latin School of Chicago's
Live & Learn program. This session Live & Learn is offering a
variety of adult education classes focusing on preparing for Halloween,
Christmas, and Hanukkah. Classes will run through mid-December and are
open to the public for a fee.

School Grandparents Go Back to School (9/20/00)
On Friday, September 22 grandparents (or special friends) of first through
fifth graders at The Latin School of Chicago will be returning to the
classroom for a day. As part of its Grandparents and Special Friends Day,
Latin's Lower School (1531 North Dearborn Parkway) has invited grandparents
and special friends to participate in arts and crafts projects, musical
performances, and other classroom activities.

& Learn Kicks Off Fall 2000 Session (8/00)
The Live & Learn program at The Latin School of Chicago will kick
off its Fall 2000 session on September 25, offering nearly 250 adult education
classes. The classes will be held through mid-December and are open to
the public for a fee. This session's courses include a host of unique
offerings including "Great Short Fiction: A Working Person's
Book Club," beginning September 28, "A Career in TV/Online Journalism:
The Real Story," on October 12, "Socially Responsible Investing,"
on October 19, and "Gingerbread Houses at the Chicago Children's
Museum," on December 16.
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Latin's
First Grade (3/14/00)
Join first-graders at the Latin School of Chicago for a morning of Irish
folktales, original limericks, dancing and singing in commemoration of
St. Patrick's Day, on Friday March 17. The festivities will take place
from 8:40-9:10 a.m. in Latin's Lower School Gym, located at 1531 N. Dearborn
Parkway.
DMSF Awards More Scholarships Then Ever

The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Foundation (DMSF), Chicago's largest high
school scholarship program will award scholarships to 140 financially
needy eighth grades for the fall of 2000 on Thursday, March 16 at The
Latin School of Chicago, 59 W. North Blvd.

Kicks Off (3/2000)
The Live & Learn program at The Latin School of Chicago will kick off
its Spring 2000 session on March 11, offering nearly 250 adult education
classes. The classes will be held through the end of May and are open
to the public for a fee.
Mars Explorer to Speak at Latin

Donna Shirley, former manager of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Mars
Exploration Program and one of the world's leading aerospace engineers,
will visit The Latin School of Chicago on Tuesday, February 22.
Sidewalk Astronomy Offers View
of Lunar Eclipse (1/13/00)
Weather permitting, skygazers and amateur astronomers are invited to catch
a glimpse of the total lunar eclipse outside The Latin School of Chicago
on Thursday, January 20. Teacher Dennis Erickson and members of Latin's
Sidewalk Astronomy club will set up the School's computerized Meade telescope
and some smaller devices on the northeast corner of Clark Street and North
Avenue from 8 p.m. - 12 a.m. to offer passersby a free view of the moon
as well as Jupiter and Saturn.
Young Poets Slam at Latin
(1/10/00)
The Latin School of Chicago will be hosting its first-ever Interscholastic
Team Poetry Slam on Friday January 14, with the help of Marc Smith, godfather
of the Slam. Teams from Latin, Chicago's Kenwood Academy, New Trier Township
High School and Palatine's Fremd High School will spar for the title of
Slam champions and a $100 grand prize.
Live & Learn Offers First-Ever
Winter Mini-Session (1/10/00)
The Live & Learn program at The Latin School of Chicago will kick off its
first-ever winter mini-session on January 18, offering nearly two dozen
adult education classes. The classes will be held through mid-March and
are open to the public for a fee.
