In case anyone doubted it, on April 5, Latin second graders proved they are not afraid to get their hands dirty.

The students enjoyed a visit from a Field Museum representative, who brought samples of a variety of types of soil for the students to examine and sift through. The lesson fit with their current unit of study, seeds and soil, as well as with several of the life science topics they studied during the last two years.

A highlight of the program was a hands-on experience with a live earthworm, with students lining up for the chance to touch the soft-bodied animal.
