Mathematics Contest "Stairway to Seven"

On January 27, The Latin School hosted its 8th Invitational Mathematics Contest, "Stairway to Seven," for students in grades five through eight. Nearly 300 students from 14 schools in Illinois and Wisconsin attended.

Our "math-letes" represented Latin very well. Here are some of the results:

5th Grade finishes:
--First place individual award: Josh Martin.
--Third place in team event (tie): Nick Azar, Hedy Gutfreund, Rhoan Pavuluri and Henry Pollock.
--Seventh place in team event: Victoria Bianco, Josh Martin, Antonio Sciarrotta and Camden Olson.

6th Grade finishes:
--First place individual award: Brian Dhingra.
--First place in team event: Christine Bianco, William Pritzker, Dexter Canright and Morgan Bryant.
--Second place in team event: Brian Dhingra, Ian Spear, Tyler Lowmiller and Sam Agler.

7th Grade finishes:
--Tenth place in team event: Max Fyfe, Daniel Davies, Nick Whalen and Ben Manis.
--Twelfth place in team event: Alex Kling, Brice Klein, Andrew Clarkson and Pongpak Deepipat.

8th Grade finishes:
--Sixth place in team event: Andrew Crown, Jack Elzinga, Joe Bucciero and Ben Quazzo.
--Seventh place in team event: Seb Olsen, Ben Kersten, Sam Sullivan and Henry Schreiber.
