Congratulations to ninth grader Lina Kavaliunas for winning first place in the 2006 Congressional Art Contest, An Artistic Discovery, hosted by Congressman Danny Davis at the United Center on May 5, 2006.

Her oil painting of Upper School English teacher Rafael Torch, created under the guidance of her Visual Arts teacher, Russell Harris, will be prominently displayed in the Cannon Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol Building, for one year. In addition, Lina wins five hundred dollars, a new computer, a class at The Art Institute of Chicago, roundtrip airfare and two nights' accommodations in Washington, D.C. She and her parents will attend the awards ceremony hosted at The White House in June, 2006.

Congratulations to Lina and her family!
