Middle School Festival Night was a great success! From the delightful first public performance of the fifth and sixth grade instrumental ensemble in the first floor’s Field Gym to the delicious treats in the foreign language café in the fifth floor Reid Gym, the entire school was abuzz with activity Wednesday evening, April 19.
Guests passed through Gallery 2, where the accomplished and varied artwork of Middle School classes hung, on their way to the 50’s diner where meals were cooked, hosted, and served by the eighth grade team of students and teachers. This year, the diner offered Yankee pot roast, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and tossed salad. This is an annual fundraiser for the eighth grade’s chosen charities, which this year grossed more than $1,500.
Seventh grade World Cultures students led their parents around their wonderfully colorful and interactive displays of various African cultures. “With student docents, it felt like a trip to a children’s museum,” said Middle School Director Deb Sampey.
Sixth graders exhibited their creative art in the Cave. And the students' written family histories were everywhere, in various languages throughout the gym and, for eighth graders, in great detail in the library.
It was a night of fun for the whole family as Latin celebrated the dynamic Middle School curriculum.
