Latin hosts High
Jump, a tuition-free program that helps prepare academically talented
students for entrance into top high schools in Chicago and around the nation.
High Jump students, selected on the basis of academic merit and financial
need, complete three years of summer classes and two years of twice-monthly
Saturday classes at The Latin School.
Many Upper School students volunteer for the High Jump program, and each year, several graduates of the program become Latin ninth graders. Other graduates go on to independent day or boarding schools, or public or parochial schools with rigorous college-preparatory programs. High Jump began in 1989 as a joint effort of Latin and the Francis W. Parker School. In 1996 Latin took over the administration of the program. In 2001, the program became its own non-profit corporation.
