Participating in athletics should be a wonderful experience for all children, no matter their level of talent or interest. Yet, too often, a win-at-all-costs mentality takes the joy out of the activity.
The Latin School of Chicago has teamed up with the Positive
Coaching Alliance to offer interactive workshops for any parent whose
child has ever participated or will ever participate in a sport. These workshops
instruct parents how best to support coaches and teams to ensure that children
get the most out of every youth sports experience. We held our first parent
workshop in January 2005, led by Jim Thompson. Our next workshop is scheduled:
LATIN PARENTS' WORKSHOP
Wednesday, February 22, 2006
6 :30 p.m. Workshop taught by Kathy Toon of Stanford University's Positive
Coaching Alliance (PCA)
Middle/Upper School Library
The workshop is free and is open to all Latin parents. Please help
us prepare for the event by registering with Linda O'Keeffe at (312) 582-6510 or lokeeffe@latinschool.org.
Thanks to all who support these exciting community-building events that help us
further Latin's mission of teaching children to lead lives of purpose and
excellence through the PCA's approach of "Transforming youth sports so
sports can transform youth."
