LIFE: Ethics in Politics

To kick off its 2004-05 program on ethics in politics, Latin's Initiative For Ethics welcomed Pulitzer Prize-winning Harvard professor Samantha Power to the school on Friday, November 12th. Power authored A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide, which was awarded the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction and the 2003 National Book Critics Circle Award.

Paul RusesabaginaIn April, Latin students viewed the movie, Hotel Rwanda and then heard Paul Rusesabagina's presentation, "Hotel Rwanda: A Lesson Yet to Be Learned," on Friday, April 22. In April 1994, as Hutus were massacring Tutsis and foreigners were fleeing the country, Rusesabagina was temporarily put in charge of the Mille Collines by its Belgian owners. With little hesitation and at great risk, he immediately opened the doors for relatives, friends, neighbors, and strangers seeking refuge.
