"Taste of the African Diaspora" wrapped up Project Week with a trip to the DuSable Museum of African American History. Students were particularly drawn to the Civil Rights Exhibit, and the words of Dr. Martin Luther King. Food-wise, we "brought it home" and finished our culinary adventure with good old-fashioned American soul food at Pearl's Place (3901 S. Michigan). Students feasted on cornmeal-dredged fried catfish, fried chicken, greens, sausages, roast beef, smothered chicken, fried and white rice, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and green beans from a sumptuous buffet, all washed down with southern-style sweet tea.
