"Italian in Chicago" offers students classes in Italian and access to other Italian cultural activities. Each day will begin in school with an
Italian class taught by a native speaker. In addition, students will explore Italian contributions to art, music, cinema,
fashion and cuisine. Lunch and afternoons will be spent off-campus at various locations throughout the city.

The first day of our project week, Italian in Chicago, was very interesting. From 8:30 until 10:30, Signor Dragonetti taught us how to introduce ourselves, say some Italian phrases such as grazie and prego, and pronunciation of words. Instead of just teaching us, he went around and asked us to say certain things and respond back.
Jake gave the first presentation of the week. He gave us lots of information about the food in the Emilia-Romagna region. We even got to sample real parmeggiano reggiano cheese with aceto balsamico tradizionale di Modena. Then, Julia and Meghan gave a presentation about Italian desserts including gelato and tiramisu (which literally means, "pull me up.")
Once that was done, we ordered pizza, and tried a certain type that senior Dragonetti recommended, potato and rosemary. Then we went to Carrie's house, and we were put into groups of 2 or 3, and cooked certain dishes. Some of the dishes were bruscheta, salad, and frittata. Those were only a few of the many delicious dishes we had yesterday. It was a very fulfilling day, and it was a lot of fun.
