PROJECT WEEK 2007

< Project Week 2007

Ceramics in the City

This project will provide hands-on experience and knowledge in ceramics. We will learn how to create clay pots using slab, coil, pinch and wheel throwing techniques. We also will be introduced to Raku pottery and the use of ceramics in the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Partnering with the Hyde Park Art Center, we will visit a potter's studio and a ceramics factory and participate in an outdoor Raku kiln firing.

Monday & Tuesday, March 12 & 13, 2007
Here are some photos of us creating ceramics and learning the ropes at the Hyde Park Arts Center. Byron creates a cup and Susan poses with her pot creation. Robyn throws her clay on the wheel, and Ella smoothes a piece while Justine receives guidance from our teaching artist Hardy Schlick. Hardy also demonstrated how to wedge clay. There is so much to learn!
