In sharp contrast to Gaudi's work, whose main purpose was to celebrate design and ornamentation, the works viewed today were far more focused on function and materials. The focus of Sert's Miro Foundation was its purpose. The primary concern of the building was to appropriately display the works of Miro. The accesibility of the building makes it approachable to the common man. This was one of the components of the Modernist movement in architecture. The use of large windows continually connected the observer to nature and the outside. |
