JEWELRY MAKING

Students who love to wear jewelry or think they have a knack for designing will enjoy this project. We will use various techniques to make jewelry including beading, silversmithing, macramé, and wirework. Students will be supplied with tools for jewelry making and a wide assortment of materials to create their own pieces. They will keep their tools after Project Week is over. Students are encouraged to bring in particular pieces that they are interested in replicating. We will visit a silversmith's studio on one day and work with the artist to create an original piece of silver jewelry. On another day, we will visit various beading stores in Chicago so students can choose their supplies.
