Journal entry 1—from Merida
We are in the land of the Mayas. The weather is excellent and the food is delicious and interesting.
Hasan sat on the top of the Temple of the Warriors at Chichen Itza, we all climbed El Castillo, and we went swimming in the cenote. Ms. Kritzberg and Ms. Ross say that the students on the trip are great, and that Latin School should be proud of them.

We were amazed by the variety of the foods in the market and by the pigs heads, sharks, and chicken feet, and saddened by the puppies in cages. The pool is awesome.

Tomorrow we will see the flamingos at Celestun and we are taking lots of photographs.

We are having fun, becoming better friends, and enjoying ourselves thoroughly. We are going to have dessert now at the Sorbetería Colón, a tradition in Merida. Ms. Kritzberg has introduced us to the magical mango moments. Adiós.
