Day 5, March 12-13, 2003

Last night was rather cloudy, so most people just processed the images they already took. It got clearer in the early morning, but I was asleep by then. Everyone else was asleep by about 5:00 am.

Everyone got to sleep late today because there was no important trip to go on. Most of us were up around 1:00 pm. Mrs. Rice led the group (except for Chris) on a walk around the area to find fossils (there were some cool ones) and other general things that happened over the last 350 million years.

After that, everyone (even Chris this time) went to the town in Cloudcroft to have fun. Everyone bought souvenirs and I got some ice cream (which, unfortunately, wasn't very good). At about 5:00 pm, we left to go back to the cabin for dinner, which was delicious scrambled eggs and hash browns made by Chris.

Our assumption of bad weather was confirmed. This is probably the cloudiest night of the week. We went to the library to process images, but taking more pictures was pretty much out of the question. When we got there, Ms. Gehret talked to us about where the Milky Way was in relation to other objects in space. Other than that, everyone finished with their pictures and packed.
