We arrived in El Paso!! Everyone is doing well and having a great time.
After the 3-hour plane ride, we checked into the hotel and relaxed for
a little while. We had some time to kill so we decided to go to a movie
and grab a bite to eat.
After
we got back to the hotel, everyone went to bed because we knew we would
have to wake up early the next morning. We got up at 6 Monday morning
and had a bite to eat and then we headed out at about 7:30.
The
drive was long and most of us slept or listened to music. We got to Walmart
at about 11and we spent a long time shopping for the food that we would
need for the rest of the trip. We got some lunch and headed back on the
road. After another hour and a half we finally got to New Mexico Skies!!!
We settled in and took naps for the long night ahead.
At
around 5 p.m. we met with Mr. and Mrs. Rice and got to look around a little
bit. We then went back and had some dinner cooked by Jeff. After dinner
we went out and got to look at our first object. A beautiful Comet!! We
were all very excited to get started looking for different things in the
Universe.
After
a quick lesson from Mr. Rice on how to work the imaging telescope we started
to find different objects in the sky. It got to be very cold so we all
decided to come in for coffee. We then went back out and worked some more.
Now after freezing for a while we are back inside warming up!!
We
also saw the space shuttle on re-entry into the atmosphere which was very
exciting to see!! It was very bright and you could see how hot the bottom
of the shuttle was.
It
was great to see!! That's all for now! Hope all is well in Chicago!!
