Middle School: Support Services

"We are constantly watching after and interacting with our students. Among our students there is sometimes the sense that perhaps the adults care too much. But to us, it is a matter of not allowing a single student to slip through the cracks."
— Deb Sampey, Middle School director
Team Support
An advisory system at each grade level ensures a familiarity with all Middle School students. A team of grade-level teachers, one of whom is that grade's dean, the nurse, the counselor, the dean of students, and the director meet weekly to discuss social and academic issues students may be facing and how to address them.

Academic Support
The Middle School faculty is committed to providing extra help to students who encounter difficulty with portions of the courses that they teach. Teachers frequently assist students during a free period and before and after school.

Students who may be having academic problems of a more general nature (time management, reading efficiency, compensating for learning differences, etc.) are encouraged to take advantage of the many services provided by the school's learning resources faculty. Students may simply drop by the Learning Resources Center for advice or help whenever it is convenient for them.
