"The Middle School teachers are so good at knowing what's important to this aged child. The kids end up feeling connected to their teachers and to each other."

Each student is assigned to a homeroom along with nine to 11 peers. This homeroom group, led by an advisor who is also a subject-area teacher, becomes one of the focal points of the day. Every morning, homeroom serves as a haven for announcements, friendships, class activities, and last-minute conferences on homework questions before students begin the rest of the day. The homeroom advisor provides students with daily guidance not only in academics, but also in the areas of growth, adolescence, and peer issues. Homerooms often work as a team on community service projects.
