The Middle School physical education curriculum is developmental beginning with introductory skills in grades 6 and 7 and very little emphasis on competition. Fitness tests are administered in the fall and spring to assess the major fitness components.
Eighth grade physical education is primarily an introduction to the following team sports and activities: field hockey, rugby, team handball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming skills and games, self-defense, and track and field.
Health-related units are taught in classrooms each year: sixth grade - introduction to first aid; seventh grade -cardiovascular health; eighth grade - nutrition.
All Middle School classes participate in an intramural program one day per week during their P.E. period, with an emphasis placed on teamwork and cooperation.
