"It was fun brushing the dolls' hair and making them look new again. Now someone else can love my doll."

Manners. Kindness. Civility.
These are very important words in the life of our Lower School. They are displayed on classroom walls. They are discussed among teachers and students. They are our motto, and provide the backdrop for much of what we try to accomplish throughout the year.
The meaning of these words goes beyond the expectation that children are respectful of their teachers and each other, or that they know how to say please and thank you. They also include values like fair play and sportsmanship or thoughtfulness and consideration. Our mission is to teach our children to be good citizens in their school and their world.
Children’s Roundtable
We nurture the social, emotional, and moral aspects of each child’s development with as much attention as we devote to their academic success. Beginning in the kindergartens and continuing through the Upper School years, the children’s roundtable program encourages students to know themselves and their world by considering various points of view; discussing feelings about events in their lives; respecting differences among people; and participating responsibly and cooperatively within small groups and the larger community. These teachers also work with parents and parent discussion groups in addressing issues ranging from peer pressure to dealing with grief.
