Upper
Schoolers have no study halls, so many use the library for quiet work throughout
the day. Middle Schoolers may sign out of study halls for library research
or quiet reading. We have a separate Middle School Fiction reading area surrounded
by shelves of young adult novels.
We have a few small group conference rooms and a library classroom that may be reserved in advance for group projects, but we try to keep outside desks and table areas as quiet as possible to allow for study and quiet reading. Please help!
Classes and other large groups may use the built-in AV presentation equipment in the lower level of the library through advance reservation.
Circulation and Reserve Policies:
Our
library catalog and circulation systems are fully computerized. Books circulate
for three weeks, with overdue fines of five cents per school day. Because
of the importance of shared use of certain materials, books on reserve for
a specific class and reference books are fined at $1 per day. BUT EVERYTHING
IN THE LIBRARY CIRCULATES! Reference books are not locked up when we close
at 5 pm (3 pm on Tuesdays); they are always available for overnight checkout.
Please be courteous of others and remember to return your reference books
the next morning, but check with the librarians if you have a special need
requiring an extended time with the books.
If a book you want to check out is already checked out by someone else, we will reserve it for you and notify you when the book becomes available. We are also happy to arrange for interlibrary loan of materials we cannot provide here.
